Abuse and Domestic Violence Recognition in Esthetics

Domestic violence affects approximately 4.7 million women annually. This epidemic presents estheticians with a strong likelihood of encountering a victim at some point during their careers. That being the case, it is important for skin therapists to recognize signs of abuse when they appear during consultation, analysis, treatment, and other service components. Understanding how this serious issue presents itself in esthetics not only informs a professional’s therapeutic choices for skin treatment, but also the approach to client safety and advocacy of total wellness.
